The infinity pool at the rooftop allows guests to indulge in the spectacular view.

Located on Taiwan Provincial Highway No. 18 and 1,280 meters above sea level, the place known as Loongtou offers a panoramic view of Yushan and Southern Cross-Island Mountain Range. From the changing seasons, clouds and mist, sunrise and sunset, forests and mountains, to the maple trees and cherry blossoms, all the wonders of nature are enriched with history and Tsou culture. For travelers who want to explore, perhaps Hotel Indigo Alishan is your perfect choice.
Finding Amazing Treasures
Through years of development, the first international boutique hotel chain at Alishan has officially opened. Not only is it the only hotel in Alishan that comes with an infinity pool, hydrotherapy and an outdoor bar, it is also the first Gold-Rated Green Building found in the southwest regions of Taiwan. Through the hands of Ministry of Design, an integrated architectural firm in Singapore, the hotel design draws inspiration from the natural and humanistic sceneries found in Alishan. The fence-covered exterior reminds people of the Alishan Forest Railway and its hinoki carriages, while the guest pavilion pays tribute to the traditional train station and invites its guests to hop on a journey upon check-in. As we step into the lobby surrounded by square bamboo and walk through the geometric tunnel, we are immediately welcomed by the whirling maple forest, train whistles and lively chirping of Taiwan blue magpies—a romantic call originating deep within the mountains, enchanting and alluring.

With Nature as Neighbors
Offering 84 rooms and suites, the guest rooms all come with a private balcony and outdoor seating. With Tsou culture and Taiwan blue magpie in mind, the interior features, in variations of red and blue, maple decorations above the headboard, woven carpets reminiscent of clouds and hunter-style mini-bar cabinets. Meanwhile, soaring in the corridor, the blue magpies guide us into the guest room and transform into bedside nightlights, guarding the travelers in their sleep. The bathroom walls incorporate woven patterns and fireflies to highlight the clean air, forest and water source of Alishan. At the hotel rooftop, not only can you find the infinity swimming pool and jacuzzi, but also the stargazing deck that allows guests to relax and enjoy the majestic beauty under the vast, starlit sky.

Local Delicacies
Located on the first floor in Hotel Indigo Alisan, ton’u kitchen—with ton’u meaning millet in Tsou language—is designed to recreate the festive atmosphere of a bountiful harvest. The restaurant offers signature Chiayi street food, local ingredients from Alishan and features of Tsou cuisine, presenting a global dining experience with a multitude of layers. When the weather is beautiful, take a seat at the outdoor area and enjoy breakfast, as the warm sunlight wakes up the body and starts the day with energy. After the sun sets, visit ‘aveoveoyu rooftop bar that features a fiery red bar counter matching its name, which means happiness in Tsou language. Order a drink of your liking from the variety of choices—Alishan signature cocktails, high mountain tea or boutique coffee—and indulge in the company of the changing scenery; there is no better moment in the world than this.

The intertwined views of the clouds and mountain take the breath away.
