有時候，出現在生命裡的狀態似乎來的不是時候，但日後回顧會發現其實那才是宇宙最好的安排。年輕時期參與《半生緣》演出的磨練與挑戰，造就出此刻的林心如。在她爽朗的笑容與標誌性的酒窩當中，記憶帶我們瞬移30年，看著她由青澀的美到醇厚的美。

最佳製作人形塑之路

30年，足以讓小小樹苗日漸茁壯、蒼翠茂盛。30年，在林心如的演藝事業上，則是由初試啼聲的年輕演員成為最佳製作人。從早期《還珠格格》裡的紫薇到近年各戲劇裡的她，由青澀的美到醇厚的美都是深植人心。尤其這幾年真實人生中多了「母親」這個角色，對於她的事業無疑是如虎添翼。「現在本身就是一個母親，遇到有小孩的戲，情感就會很快投入，很自然便能夠入戲。」

她成為母親後，對於戲劇呈現與表達的訴求也多了一份關懷世界的使命感。由電視圈跨足電影圈的林心如，首部監製以及主演的電影作品《迷失安狄》描述社會底層的人物故事。這是一部關懷社會的主題，而接受本刊採訪期間，林心如也為了一個關於「農村再造」的節目錄影來回奔波中台兩地。「湖南台找我時，我覺得概念非常的好，當年輕人都離開家鄉，一個村就成為『空心村』，農村改造成功，工作機會便能夠增加，大家可以在自己的家鄉照顧老人、照顧小孩。現在我會特別關心小孩的議題，也希望自己有比較好的榜樣。」也由於這份對於世界正向的關懷，她的心中對於未來可能的戲劇規劃，也期待能夠關注到小孩以及流浪貓狗的主題。

即使現階段還未有明確方向，不過，對於目標的追求林心如一向是明確而果決。她首次擔任製作人兼演出的《傾世王妃》，拍攝後期為求最佳效果，不惜成本再投入更多預算。事實證明追加資金的投入是正確的決定，這部戲成為經典之作，也成為她事業轉折點。「了解自己要什麼」這項特質對於她擔任製作人是一項優勢。在她首度擔任專任製作人的作品《有生之年》她也親自參與選角。當問到她選角時會如何考量？「撇開市場來說的話，我對於角色很多時候都是第一印象。我看完劇本以後，心目中就會浮現哪一個人適合演這樣一個角色，接著再與相關同仁討論。」

隨著製作的經驗越來越多，林心如也享受於製作人這個忙碌的身分。由於製作人是從拍攝的開始就要投入，乃至於到拍攝過程，以及後製與宣傳。她自述這些確實是一項挑戰，然而從中獲得的成就感也支撐她繼續向前。「製作人關係到一部戲的成功。我把方方面面都做到很好、也把大家都照顧好。成就感不一樣，感覺看的更大一點。」

一切都是最好的安排

能夠在30年的職業中成功轉換角色，具備更大的格局，也是林心如在年輕時期面臨過挑戰所獲得的養分。問到她所有戲劇當中面臨的最大挑戰？她稍加思索後，帶著沉靜而感恩的面色回到：「是張愛玲作品《半生緣》。」在這部作品當中林心如所扮演的顧曼楨，不僅錯過一生的摯愛，還有著對於生命裡許多的無奈，以及為了照顧孩子繼續禁錮在一場無以名狀的深淵裡。當時飾演這個角色時，林心如正值27歲的青春年華，對於大多數不到30歲的人而言，人生的長度與經歷的密度對於掌握這樣的心緒並不容易。

「張愛玲有許多的書迷。每一個人心中對於裡面的角色都有不同的解讀。在那之前我詮釋較多古裝劇，但這是民初背景的戲，又有廣大的書迷。在當時那年紀，確實有很多心態上的揣摩對我來說較難駕馭，我花很多時間尋找書中戲裡人物的感受。那是我在那個階段時認為很難扮演的角色，但我覺得很幸運可以演到她，演到她之後，為了讓自己貼合這個角色，讓我更懂得怎麼樣演戲，更能夠去揣摩這角色的內心。」

有時候，出現在生命裡的狀態似乎來的不是時候，但日後回顧會發現其實那才是宇宙最好的安排，這點正好驗證在林心如參與《半生緣》演出的經驗裡，也因為曾經的磨練，讓她有現今的成就。問到她覺得30年來最大的成長是什麼？「最大不同，是一直在成熟進步，對於自我的要求也不同。以前想要產出很多作品，會把自己排的很滿。現在結婚生小孩後覺得步調要慢下來，不需要尋找太多作品，但每個作品質量必須要很高，尋找工作與生活的平衡。」

當真實人生裡多了「家庭」這個場景，對於工作的想法確實會有很大的轉變，對林心如而言甚至拍戲內容的選擇也稍有不同。「現在想拍輕鬆的戲，因為社會真的太多事情，有時候想演一些開開心心的戲，加上之前幾部戲角色都比較沉重，像是《模仿犯》、《華燈初上》，以及之前的《誰是被害者》。所以有時候也想要一些比較輕鬆的喜劇，也能夠調適一下自己的心情。」由於顧慮到家人的感受，林心如下戲時不想把入戲的負面情緒帶回家裡，在歸家的路上會盡量排空這些情緒。問到她如何讓自己放空？「亂逛網路！」林心如爽朗明快的回答，還帶著她標誌性的迷人酒窩。這一幕令旁人感覺到一股暖意襲來——原來，即便她是身價最高女藝人之一也是成功的最佳製作人，但在這一部分她與妳我一樣，以亂逛網路排空腦中的思緒。這樣一種「有志一同」，令人感覺親近，彷彿30年前帶著鄰家女孩氣質的林心如又回到眼前。瞬間，無論是曾經的她還是現在的她，都在一路與她相伴至今的影迷腦海中，留著雋永的美……

Journey to Becoming the Best Producer

Over Ruby Lin’s 30 year career journey, she has transformed from a budding young actress into the best producer. From her early role as Ziwei in The Return of The Pearl Princess to her recent performances in various dramas, she has evolved into a more mature and refined elegance, leaving a lasting impression. In recent years, her career has undoubtedly enhanced after becoming a mother; Ruby Lin states, “Now that I am a mother myself, when I encounter roles involving children, I quickly connect emotionally and naturally immerse myself into the character.”

After becoming a mother, Ruby Lin has developed a sense of social responsibility in her artistic expressions. Transitioning from the television industry to the film industry, Ruby Lin produced and starred as the lead actress in her first film, Miss Andy, which explores the stories of characters from the lower strata of society. At the time of our interview, Ruby Lin was traveling between Taipei and central Taiwan for the filming of a program related to “rural reconstruction.” She explains, “When Hunan TV approached me, I thought the concept was excellent. When young people leave their hometowns, the village becomes empty. So if rural areas are successfully transformed, job opportunities will increase, enabling people to stay in their hometowns and care for their elders and children. Now, I pay special attention to children’s issues and hope to set a positive example myself.” Due to her positive concern for the world, Ruby Lin looks forward to incorporating themes related to children and stray animals into her future projects.

Even though the direction may not be clear at the moment, Ruby Lin has always been decisive in pursuing her goals. In her first role as a producer and actress in The Glamorous Imperial Concubine, she invested additional budget during the post-production phase to achieve the best results; this proved to be the right move, making the drama a classic, and a turning point in her career. As a producer, this trait of “knowing what she wants” is a great advantage. In her work as a full-time producer in Living, she personally participated in the casting process. When asked about her considerations during casting, she replied, “Aside from the market, my choices are often based on my first impression of the person. I tend to have an idea of the type of person who is suitable for the role after reading the script, so I focus on searching for that.”

As Ruby Lin gains more experience in production, she expresses her enjoyment in the busy role of a producer. Being involved from the beginning of filming to post-production and promotion, she acknowledges that it is indeed a challenge, but the sense of accomplishment motivates her to move forward. “A producer can impact the success of a drama so I make sure to do my best in every aspect, and take good care of everyone. The sense of achievement is different; it feels greater.”

Perfectly Destined

For Ruby Lin, her successful transition and growth over the 30 years of her career, especially the challenges she faced when she was younger, has been a valuable experience. When asked about the most challenging film she faced, she took a moment to reflect, then responded in a serene and grateful manner saying, “Eileen Zhang’s Eighteen Springs.” In this piece, Ruby Lin played the character Gu Manzhen, a character who not only lost her true love, but is also faced with the inevitabilities of life, including raising a child alone. Being only 27 years old at the time, Ruby Lin faced challenges when portraying the complexities and emotions of the character.

“Eileen Zhang has many fans, and everyone has a different interpretation of the characters in her works. Prior to working with her, I mostly only took part in historical dramas; however, this drama was set in the early Republican era and has a large fanbase. At that age, I found it difficult to grasp the nuances and spent a lot of time studying the feelings of the character in the book. Although, at that age, it was a challenging role for me, I am grateful for the experience as it allowed me to gain a deeper understanding towards acting, as well as empathy towards the character’s feelings.”

In life, some situations may appear untimely at first, but in hindsight, they are revealed as the universe’s best arrangement. This concept is precisely validated in Ruby Lin’s experience in the drama, Eighteen Springs. The challenges she faced during that period of her career has contributed to her present achievements. When asked about the most significant growth she has experienced in the past 30 years, Ruby Lin responds, “The biggest difference can be seen in my continuous growth and progress, as well as the goals I set for myself. In the past, I had a packed schedule as I wanted to produce many works. Now, after getting married and having children, I am learning to slow down and no longer purposely occupy myself with projects. I focus on maintaining a balance between work and life, while ensuring that the quality of each project remains high.”

The addition of “family” can evoke changes in one’s perspective towards work and for Ruby Lin, her decision in role picking has slightly changed. She states, “With so many things happening in today’s society,  and especially after playing several intense roles in Copycat Killer, Light the Night, and The Victims’ Game, I now want to take on lighter and more cheerful films.” Worried about bringing back home negative emotions, Ruby Lin mentions that she makes an effort to filter out her feelings on the way. When asked about her methods, she responds in a cheerful manner, “Browsing the internet!” Her response eludes a sense of warmth, revealing that despite being one of the highest valued actresses and a successful producer, she, like everyone else, also finds solace in activities like casually browsing the internet. This sense of relatability creates a sense of closeness, reminding us of her girl-next-door charm from 30 years ago. In an instant, whether it be her past or present self, she left behind a lasting beauty in the minds of her fans.
