The Rise of Iconic Voices: A New Chapter in Contemporary Art Toys
In today’s contemporary art landscape, the interplay between personal style and cultural context grows increasingly vivid. Artists are turning inward, drawing from their own distinct vocabularies to navigate identity, while simultaneously echoing the ethos of their time. The exhibition 《THEiCON》, a collaborative effort between renowned Hong Kong art toy atelier How2work, Taipei creative space The Little Hut, and toy curator Paradise, offers an ambitious reimagining of this creative terrain. Bringing together over 50 visionary artists—including the likes of Kim Jung Gi, Kasing Lung, Kila Cheung, Shoko Nakazawa, T9G (Takuji), and Kaikai Kiki, the celebrated studio led by Takashi Murakami—this exhibition spans sketching, illustration, sculpture, designer toys, and cross-disciplinary design. The result is a kaleidoscopic tapestry of imagination, where intricate lines and lively forms invite reflection on how we perceive, respond to, and re-envision the world around us.
